The printer is in an error state that requires operator intervention or help. | Check the following:
The toner door is completely closed.
Media is loaded. For instructions, see the section in the HP LaserJet 1000 Series Printer User Guide on "Loading Media Into the Input Tray."
The print cartridge is correctly installed in the printer. For instructions, see the section in the HP LaserJet 1000 Series Printer User Guide on "Changing the print cartridge."
There is no media jam. For instructions, see the section in the HP LaserJet 1000 Series Printer User Guide on "Clearing Printer Media Jams."
Verify that the media jam levers are in the upright position. |

| Universal serial bus (USB) cable is not connected or there is no power
Both lights are off. | Make sure there is power.
Unplug both ends of the power cord, and plug them back in.
Unplug the power cord, disconnect both ends of the USB cable, reconnect both ends of the USB cable, and plug the power cord in again.
CAUTION: Always unplug the printer before connecting the USB cable to the printer. Otherwise, the printer may be damaged. |
